Cerrites is located in the center of the Los Angeles Basin and is home to more than 1.5 million residents and about 3,000 businesses. There is a wide variety of imported and exported goods from the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and South America.

Because Cerritos is located practically in the geographical center of the Los Angeles Basin, it has become an important economic engine for the city of Long Beach and the state of California. In 1971, the first public-private partnership between the City of Cerrito and Long Island City was established, and has since become an integral part of the city's revenue stream. In 1994, the city unveiled the Cerrites Towne Center project, which combined the best of both worlds - high-end retail and office space in an open-air location with a mix of residential and commercial space.

Cerritos, which borders the city on the side of Los Angeles County, includes Long Beach and Long Island City, as well as a number of other cities in the region, including San Fernando Valley, San Bernardino County and San Gabriel Valley. The Bicycle Hotel and Casino, which now includes the Cerrites Towne Center and its adjacent retail and office space, covers a total area of approximately 2,500 square meters.
